Protecting the Finish

Often our clients will ask us how much maintenance will be required for their new window or door…

How often will they need to touch up their new window or door?

As part of our maintenance package, we usually recommend a touch up after 7 years. Earlier in some cases in areas of high exposure.

That said, all our products come fully finished with no painting required onsite and any maintenance required in the later years will be very minimal.

We use triple coats (base coat, middle coat and end coat) of water based microporous paint to ensure the product stays looking sharp for as long as possible. We fully coat all surfaces including the ones which are ready for ironmongery and glazing.

Clients can be under the impression that they would need to opt for paler colours for example if the positioning of their new window or door gets a lot of sun exposure.

You really don’t need to feel restricted though, our paint system offers ultimate protection, which is specially designed to ensure our product can keep their appearance for generations.

We can match any RAL and brand name/colour. We can also be sent a sample of painted timber and match that.

You can also choose a two-tone finish if you have a door or window colour in mind but would like the internal sides to match with the interior of your property.

We do recommend that you clean your window and door frames regularly and to avoid using alkaline or acidic cleaners as this can damage the painted finish.

When it comes to recoating, we always recommend water-based micro-porous stain or paint.

Pictured is a perfect example of a bold colour choice made by our clients for their very large and exciting Knockderry Castle renovation project. We were commissioned to manufacture a traditional stable style door for their delightful cottage which is situated within the castle grounds- where our clients are residing whilst the renovation of the Castle itself takes place.
