Traditional Timber Sash & Case Windows Fife, Edinburgh, Perth and Glasgow
Sash and Case windows have been manufactured here in our joinery manufacturing workshop Strathmiglo for almost 40 years. Combining traditional materials and detailing with the latest in glazing technology we specialise in making windows that are in keeping with the original scheme, complement the character and protect the integrity of the building. They also have a comprehensive draught proof system to provide a much warmer and more comfortable environment for you and your family.
Do I need Planning Permission?
For homes within a Conservation Area you will need Planning Permission to replace your windows.
For listed buildings Category A, B or C including tenements, flats and business properties you will require LBC (Listed Building Consent) and Planning Permission.
This process has in the past been seen as a somewhat ‘difficult’ one, with many applications being rejected and several appeals required until permission is granted by the Local Authority for the correct type of replacement window system.
Years of research and development of our Lamb’s Tongue and Ogee profile have resulted in our TJ Ross Slim Bar Double Glazed Astragal System having been recently approved for Category A and B listed Period properties by several Local Authorities.
We work closely with experienced architects that can guide you through the planning process and submit on your behalf. Recent applications submitted in Edinburgh, Perth and Fife have had a positive outcome allowing our clients to move forward with replacing their Sash & Case windows and making their home warmer and more energy efficient.
Benefits of Double Glazed Sash and Case Windows
They retain the original character and authenticity of the building
Dramatically reduce draughts synonymous with old single glazed Sash and Case windows
Glazed with high performance double glazed units with the latest warm-edge black spacer bar technology, soft coat Low ‘E’ coating and the cavity filled with Argon gas providing a centre pane ‘U Value’ of 1.2
The degree of ventilation can be easily controlled
Good quality Hardwood from sustainable sources is used to make our timber windows, which is of less cost to the environment than the manufacture and disposal of uPVC or Composite windows and doors.
Can we use our own Joiner to install the windows?
Absolutely! We can make your Sash and Case windows and supply them to your Joiner ready to install.
All we need are accurate manufacturing sizes. All required lead counter weights will be provided loose for your joiner to fit during installation. You are welcome to bring your Joiner here to the workshop to discuss your requirements.
